Electrical Safety Device of Toshiba Injection Molding Machines

The safety device is designed to secure safety by shutting off the electrical circuit with the opening of the safety gate.

(1) Safety gate on the operation side
The safety gate on the operation side is equipped with gate close limit switches (LS1A,
LS1A1). Opening the safety gate stops every machine movement in all operation modes
by limit switches.

NOTE: When the safety gate is opened in [AUTO] or [SEMI-AUTO] of OPERATION mode,
close the safety gate and press [START] button to restart operation.

NOTE: Electromagnetic locking device (LS1A3) might be added depending on the safety
standards of the country where the machines are installed.

【Machines for China】
The safety gate is locked by electromagnetic locking device all the time. To release the
safety gate in all modes, keep pushing [LOCK RELEASE] button on the operation
controller and open the safety gate. The safety gate is locked even if the machine power
is off.

【Machines for North America, Europe】
The safety gate is locked by electromagnetic locking device during following processes.
(1)Machine operation during AUTO mode.
(2)Machine operation during SEMI-AUTO mode (except cycle completion)
(3)Manual operation that are mold open/close, ejection in/out, injection and charging when the nozzle touches the mold.

The locking device is released except above processes, but opening the safety gate stops every machine movement in all operation modes by the limit switch function. The safety gate is released after the machine power is off.

【Machines except China, North America, Europe】
The machine uses gate close limit switches.
Opening the safety gate stops every machine movement in all operation modes by the limit switch.

NOTE: Forced release method of electromagnetic locking device

(Machines for China)
In case of releasing the locking device urgently, turn the unlock switch on the locking device from [LOCK] to [UNLOCK] by using a manual unlock key then open the safety gate. Make sure to turn the unlock switch to [LOCK] except an urgent situation.

(2) Safety gate on the non-operation side
The safety gate on the non-operation side is equipped with gate close limit switches LS1C and LS1C1. Opening the safety gate on the non-operation side deactivates these limit switches to stop every machine movement in all operation modes. Fix the safety gate with bolt before operating the machine.

NOTE: When the machine is stopped with the opening of safety gate on the non-operation side, close the safety gate on the non-operation side and press [MAN] or [SET-UP] of OPERATION selector button and then press [ON] of [PREPARATION] button.
